Understanding Debt Relief Credit Counseling
We should all understand what debt relief credit counseling is as this is something many of us need to take advantage of. When you think about the fact that the average American has more than one credit card and most people have numerous credit cards it makes you realize how dependent on credit we have all become. The worrying thing is that a significant percentage of credit card users have credit cards that are maxed out to the full. If you are reading this thinking that could be you you may be finding it very difficult or even totally impossible to make the payments of even the minimum amount each month on every single one of your accounts. You might also have unpaid medical bills or other unsecured debts which you have considered, or already have, turned over to a collection agency. Instead of allowing your debt to continue rising unchecked or alternatively filing for bankruptcy, you really should consider whether a counseling debt relief service might be able to help you overcome your financial problems.
Many different companies and agencies are in existence today whose sole purpose is to help you get out of debt. Consumer Credit Counseling, or CCC, is a nonprofit agency with locations all over the United States. They make their services available to people with debt problems absolutely free of charge. They might be able to help you lower your monthly payments and the way they do this is by contacting and negotiating with your creditors. By law, once your creditors are contacted by CCC and informed you are working with them, all correspondence goes to CCC rather than you. The effect of this is that you get some peace at last with no more collection calls coming to your home and/or workplace.
The fact that you only have to make one payment each month, which is directly to CCC, simplifies your life and removes a lot of the stress you had from sending off all those checks to your numerous creditors. The agency simply takes the payment you make to them and splits it evenly among your creditors. Over a period of time, all your creditors are paid in full. Agencies like Consumer Credit Counseling can also show you how you can repair your credit rating scores and even make it better with the smart use of credit.
You may be aware of other credit and debt relief counseling companies who do operate for profit and while they can be just as effective as Consumer Credit Counseling and work in very much the same way they are wanting to make a profit so check for any charges or fees. If you do not have a CCC office near you, you might need to go with one of these companies. They offer you the ability to consolidate all of your debts into one more affordable monthly payment and just like Consumer Credit Counseling, they will work with your creditors to stop those unpleasant and unwanted collection calls.
